Faithful
Today so many people reject Baptism as part of Salvation, but scripture very
clearly makes it part of salvation. Actually, not only is it a part of
salvation, but the Bible teaches it is the key moment when you have forgiveness
of sins. (Acts 2:38) Peter says "There is also an antitype which
now saves us, namely baptism." The antitype which is being
referred to
here was how God saved eight souls through water in the flood. (I Peter
18-22). Jesus also said, "He who believes and is baptized will be
saved" (Mark 16:16) Paul writes in Romans 6:4-5, "Therefore we
were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was
raised from the dead so we also should walk in newness of life. For if
we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also
shall be in the likeness of His resurrection." So we see baptism is a figurement of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
The Tabernacle in the old testament is a Type when it comes to the church.
You have the laver as you enter the Holy Place where the Priests would wash
themselves. In the church, Peter tells us that we our Priests.
The Holy Place was a Type for the church, just as the laver was a Type for
baptism. So just as the Priest would wash himself in the Laver before
entering the Holy Place, people today wash themselves in baptism as they
enter the church.
